Many people aren't nice to each other. It's a fact of life and quite separate from people expressing their respect and admiration for a man whose like comes along but once in a generation, time and place. (I wear Lululemon and am quite comfortable laughing without wincing or feeling the least bit small at his disdain of No-iron Fortrel. It's merely the art of criticism. It's not personal.)
Your response, dear anonymous, is just the sort of thing that would have made our dearly departed Lloyd laugh. He would immediately have thought of Lady Bracknell's lines, "I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone." More especially because you seem so earnest.
But some of it was very personal. He could suddenly dump a friend for no reason that you could determine. Of course this statement will be shot down as sheer heresy. There is only one opinion to be had. "You seem so earnest" is a dreadful response to someone who is merely trying to balance the way we deify the dead. Claiming LD would laugh at it is worse than dismissal. His bad treatment of people was supposedly excusable because plenty of other people do it too (what??). I too heard about many other cases and just want to make the point, not that anyone will let it pass without dismissal, mocking or rancour. (By the way, this is NOT the same person who made the original comment. I am bracing for "well, you didn't even have the courage to sign your own name so your statement is worthless", or some-such. So be it, your mind is made up.)
The motif here is Greater Vancouver in transition. With many exceptions.
Unless otherwise noted, most of the stuff here was created by Bernie Lyon, a Vancouver illustrator, and Lee Bacchus, a Vancouver photographer/writer. Our work has appeared in The Tyee, Vancouver Magazine and Western Living among others. Contact rlbacchus@gmail.com

That's a good likeness. Gentle cat love, but a fighter's hands and feet.
Lee, that is a beautiful photo. Thanks.
I'm sorry to hear of Lloyd's passing. His pieces in The Sun part of my life for many years.
Sorry, he wasn't very nice to me. And I heard he wasn't very nice to a lot of other people either. Why are dead people deified?
